2016 Clothing Drive Results
The Clothing Drive was a HUGE success! We are SO thankful to our partnership with Candlelighters of West Texas and Southern New Mexico! Over 42 elementary schools in the El Paso and surrounding areas participated and raised over 100,000 lbs of clothing. The winners received a private visit with Marc Brown on April 1, 2016. Elegant Penguin Enterprises & Candelighters invited elementary schools in greater El Paso area to participate in the Annual Clothing Drive Fundraising Challenge! The Challenge began January 2016 and ran through March 2016. Ray De La Fuente at (915)544-2222 or ray@candelighterselp.org from Candlelighters was the main point of contact for this Clothing Drive.
Award: The school that raised the highest poundage of clothing will be awarded a SPECIAL private visit with Marc Brown, creator & illustrator of PBS’ beloved character ‘Arthur’! Candelighters will ALSO pay your school a percentage per pound of clothing received at your school campus! Through this partnership, school campuses will benefit financially, have the opportunity to win the private visit with Arthur, PLUS help give back to our community!

- A clothing bin will be delivered to your school campus
- Clothing will be collected from your location on an agreed upon date
- Clothing will be collected at your campus location for 30 days
- Eligible clothing drive items: clothing, shoes, linens, curtains & purses

- Scheduled visit for Friday April 1, 2016 (time TBD)

- 2 hr visit at your campus

Marc Brown is an American author and illustrator of children’s books. Brown writes as well as illustrates the Arthur book series, and is best know for creating that television series and its numerous spin offs. Millions of copies of the books have been printed and are beloved. Arthur ranked #26 on TV Guide’s 50 greatest cartoon character of all time. The series has been acknowledge with George Foster Peabody Award and for Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Children’s Animated Program. Arthur became one of the highest shows on PBS kids. It is the longest running children’s animates shows in the U.S., and the second longest running animated series in the U.S., behind The Simpsons.
